Your time is gold, and that of your eggs even more valuable. For this reason, once the decision to vitrificate your eggs is made, you will be able to do it immediately. During the whole treatment you will be able to lead a totally normal life.
It is not a painful process
Due to the treatment a slight increase of the patient’s body volume can be temporarily observed as a consequence of fluid retention, but this is similar to the menstruation's period duration. This is a totally normal symptom and it disappears when the treatment is finished, a few days after the menstruation.
Just 2 appointments
At Girexx, we want to make it very easy for you, avoiding unnecessary visits to the clinic. For this reason, we have concentrated the treatment in just two appointments:
- Complete gynaecological examination.
- Assessment of patient’s personal and family medical history.
- Analysis of required medical tests results.
- Detailed explanation of the vitrification process.
- Information about the hormonal treatment and its ultrasound monitoring.
- Oocyte extraction, through a process called follicular puncture.
- Oocyte vitrification.
During the hormonal treatment, it is required to monitor the ovarian response (the growing of oocytes) with ultrasound scans. These (one or two) can be performed at Girexx or at any other gynaecological surgery if you think that for practical reasons it is more convenient.
The follicular puncture,is performed in an operating theatre with a light sedation to make it painless. It is a relatively quick process (10-15 minutes). After the extraction the donor might feel slight pain. Moderate rest is recommended for 48 hours and also a gynaecological examination after the first menstruation.
Your eggs frozen for the future
The oocytes are vitrificated in the laboratory and preserved in liquid nitrogen at -196ºC indefinitely, so that the passage of time does not affect their reproductive potential.
When you decide to become a mother...
When you decide to use your frozen oocytes, they will first be thawed, then inseminated using sperm from your partner or from an anonymous donor (depending on your personal situation) and finally 1 or 2 embryos are transferred into your uterus.
